FREE Music: Tal and Acacia
My friend Annie recently pointed me to a new group named Tal and Acacia.
The first word I thought of when I heard their songs was “refreshing.” Their music, while listenable and pop oriented, it is very different that what’s on most Christian radio stations.
I’ve been listening for a few days now and I’m really enjoying it. The good news is that you can enjoy it too - for free. They are offering their EP for zip, zilch, nada.
Download Tal and Acacia’s EP now and enjoy!

Kat, I don’t know if this is up for debate, but I have to disagree with you on this one. JJ Heller is unlike what we normally hear on “Christian Radio” but this group, to me, sounds JUST like something I would hear on K-Love. A group trying too hard to NOT sound like Rebbecca St. James, but ending up sounding just like all the other groups who try too hard not to sound like RSJ.
Thanks for sharing, however a caution to readers: This is not new music. It’s pretty, but it’s not new. Just my (grumpy) opinion of course
6yearmed - It’s TOTALLY up for debate. Fun…
Here are my thoughts.
I think my biggest beef with the music that gets played on the radio is the production. It’s as if every studio has a CCM button. Press the button, cue strings, cue rhythm guitar, cue yawn.
I liked this group on first listen because, while, stylistically, it could totally be played on CCM radio, it just sounded - better. A bit more excellent. A bit more soulful.
For instance, I think the song Merry Go Round is unusual (for pop ccm) but I think they actually make it work instead of sounding forced.
So, perhaps I should have said “better” rather than “very different.”
Curious - who are some of your favorite artists?
And for everyone else, if you don’t already read her blog, you MUST check it out - http://6yearmed.blogspot.com/
The best written blog, I’ve read. Period. Enjoy!
Thanks for pimping my blog
Ha ha. I think on this one, we will just have to agree to disagree. I also think, however, that I don’t listen to radio, of any sort, enough to give an educated opinion
You know how you just KNOW when you hear good music? It rattles your bones and causes a gulp to rise in your throat. Sometimes you just know it’s not good music either.
Recent fave artist: Chris Castle: http://www.myspace.com/chriscastlepage
I know what you mean. I agree. This is more in the fun category as opposed to the amazing category. Thanks for the quality assurance check.
Can’t wait to check out Chris Castle.
And if you do want amazing - check out the video I just posted on the main page. Foy Vance - I’d be interested to know what you think.
